I figured Id start w/ 7 M to try to get ready to do the ISCOR first level, doing ok at &M but boy I moved it out to 10 last nite and man my shots spread lol, my idea,{which may be sound or not sound} is get it at 7 then 8 etc until Im at 10m , I think the 7 to 10 jump was way too much for me. But Ill keep at it, If I continue my real goal , which is to shoot 10 can straight will be more easily achieved , then go for the Dgui 20 shot deal like Philly did. Since I always shoot by myself , it gives me something to "work" when Im not just tossing them out , My favorite is going to the park parking lot and shooting whatever distance they go and chasing them , that the best fun to me. sorry to ramble on :) I try talking to my wife about this stuff and she tries,, but doesnt really get it lol

OMG, guys my girl is the same way that's why she loves that I've made friends on the forum because I'd bring up things like shot placement and proper release technique and shes like "OH that's cool. Though she has encouraged me to slingshot as much as possible, and has bought me more than I can count, she loves when I make things with my hands. I love her to pieces.

Yeah my whole family pretty much thinks I’ve lost my slingshot mind with all my talk of tapers and band thicknesses and pouch release and whatnot. Glad we have the forum lol. Hey SteveJ where are you grabbing those ISCOR target templates from? I’d like to print out a few. Or am I missing something in the way that all works? Who’s this dgui fellow? Can ya’ll point me on the right path?

If you go to the FB page ISCOR , click on more , then files and it will give you the targets to print out

Ahh crap I’m not on FB. No worries I’ll figure something out there. I have friends that are. Thanks kindly. Depending on the file format maybe I can get one of you guys to email them to me? I wouldn’t mind shooting at the official targets.

Hi all 🎯👍 im not directing this comment at anyone or that 🙌 the following is just my thoughts on this subject of starting at 6-7-8m and why I chose not to do it which helped me to get to a consistent point of accuracy months before a few of my friends who had started at the exact same time as me. And once you've got the 10m sussed it's far more easier to work out where you need to be aiming above or below your target to compensate for being + or - yor 10m🎯)
I seen alot of people doing this and I just can't figure out why on earth they would do it 🤯🤷. 10m is standard comp distance and average hunting distance+ 10m is also optimum distance for 99% of shooters to be able to put there reference point centre target and hit it 👌🎯 once your confident enough at 10 m and consistent then up it to the 15 or 20 metres and adjust your shot hight to allow for drop .starting at 6-7-8m your going to have to be aiming below your target because of the arch in your ammo trajectory 🤯 so your not actually benefiting by going closer surely because for each meter you have to alter your aiming point 🤯🤯 rather than starting at the 10m where you can perfect your consistent anchor hold while putting your reference point on the centre target 🤷pull aim release 🎯👌simples .1 set of actions to follow where as starting at 7m you have to learn how low to aim below target then alter that each meter you get closer to 10m then try and stop yourself from aiming below your target 🤔 👊👍🎯👌

I can try to send you the files... I am no tech wizard.

The videos are awesome to watch. And spinners can be used on the first ranking.

I think we all love shooting and making slingshots so much... that only we can enjoy how much we love them.

@SteveJ I am getting a steel plate soon and some spray glue for practicing for those tests in a about a week.

My issue is I so utterly loathe recording video that I may need to practice that more than the shooting. Haha...

But I still need to practice my shooting. Seems like I can eat a can... but 1 week of paper tests and only 1 day did I get 15 hits inbthe 4" circle.

I think your ideas are sound , for me its a mental confidence game. at 7 I can see better where it hits, I moved to 8M last night used a 3" spinner and shot 1/4 instead of bbs and really shot about the same as I did at 7 , maybe better because of the ammo change. , I was pleased. IDK if you play a instrument , but I look at it like that . I can play things I thought were impossible when I started them. but I eased into them and I can play them w/o thinking. Im sure we all learn different ways. You have some good points. Hopefully within a month Ill be passing the ISCOR test.

You dont have to have the metal plate until you get to the expert test. Im using dollar store neon poster board and it shows shots great . I was told on ISCOR that you can use spinners for both of the marksman tests. I looked for 10cm spinners , but they are not available so I got a set that had a 8cm one. Prob better for the 10cm practice anyway

Thanks guys, after looking at the sizes they do match up fairly well with my spinners already. And I was able to grab the written rules too. I’m about the same as far as operating a camera lol. For now I think I’ll just stick to what I’m doing. I’m having fun and it’s relaxing. SteveJ I hope you kick this things butt though and wish you the best of luck!!
