...that wasn't originally supposed to be compact. After many mess ups I set this one down for couple months debating on whether to chuck it into the fire place.

Glad I didn't in the end. Super happy with how it ended up coming out.

No clue what the wood is. Some mystery stuff. It might be Osage. It's seems pretty strong. It's dense and despite it getting pretty narrow in the one spot I can't make it flex at all by squeezing the forks together.

Thanks guys. Was going to leave it with just an oil finish but ended up giving it a CA on top. Hard to beat the shine you get from it.

Really not a fan of working with it either but it's the best looking finish I've been able to get. Been thinking about maybe trying some lacquers sometime to see if I can get something comparable at least.

Makes me glad I messed it up in the first place. If I hadn't I wouldn't have ended up with this. flipgun said it right. Originally I was so bummed out. Thought it would end up too small after carving some more away to fix my mistakes. And it is a small little bugger. But I'm actually finding it quite a fine size to shoot.
