A couple classic heavy hitters.

Hello my friends, I pray you are all well. Here's a set of heavy hitters I really enjoyed finishing up! No fancy inlays or anodizing..just polished brass and aluminum...my favourite! One is a full size and the other is the pocket size. The bigger of the two has band grooves as well because the new owner wanted to be able to wrap and tuck thick leather tabs as well. Altho...you can just clamp the tab.

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend everyone. Smoothing plane Plane Scrub plane Jack plane Shoulder plane

I like these classic ones the best but YMMV. They look exquisite. The mirror polish you have achieved is jaw dropping. Perfectly executed frames and amazing work as always...

Thanks Matt! As you know I run a manual machine shop, but in reality 90 percent of my work is done at home in my garage. I do the forks and handles in a manual lathe but all the grinding fitting and finish is all done with angle grinder, die grinder, hand files, a drill press, and a vertical bandsaw.

Its always interesting how equipment can define the outcome.

A while back I had CNC router / laser cutter / table router / table saw / drill press etc. The stuff you can produce with those has an outcome doing 100% by hand simply can't achieve. Not that either is better - its just different.

So true! And it amazes me how the same frame can vary from one builder to another. For instance...my apprentice was wanting one of my frames and asked for one..so like a good boss I handed him my drawings and told him to make one lol. Even tho his was in tolerance to the drawing and measured right, it had a vastly different look than mine. Funny how that works.

LOL - been wanting to do a SOTM again to a 'template' - maybe next month.

Did one a while back - its amazing how someone can interpret the same frame - no 2 are ever the same.

Fantastic frames Shane, they always amaze me.
What you said also applies to Flutes, and is what led me to building them for 13 yrs. The sound hole construction on them can be so different between builders, and is what gives each one its own unique voicing.
The same applies to slings and is why I love them all, and it's because of the builders interpretation of how it should be made.

I admire fine sets of dueling pistols. When I first saw these I thought "dueling slings," how cool is that?!

Who knows, if it weren't for gunpowder, you might well open a fine cherry box and find these puppies.

Beautiful-
