This is a microwave dried Rhodedendron fork, in it's work in progress state.
It fits with a bit of natural canter for my sideways shooting style and it has a bit of a curve that acts as a palm swell to fill the hand perfectly. I haven't made a natural in 35 years since I used bicycle tube and vine maple! This one should be a lot more pleasent to shoot. I believe that I will work it so that I can use latex flatbands.

I'll post more as the project progresses.

I'd be very interested to see how the wood works out, though it's not native here, it's around.

I've been told by a few guys that rhodedendron is a good wood to use. The dried branches around my house are tough enough to stand on.
I'm drying a cherry fork too.
Ps. My wife thinks that I'm nutty for posting a pic of a bare stick! She's probably right but at least I'm keeping good company with you all

Ps...this stuff works great for finishing dry wood.
Bees wax and mineral oil. Buy it at the corner store! 3 bucks
