I drew up a little design for a new frame designed specifically for Ott. I wanted to be able to shoot some fairly strong bands instinctively for some pigeons that need culling at my dad's Farm. Just was curious if you guys have seen this before or if I actually have something unique on my hands for once lol.

You know what, upon second glad theyve got some differences. Mine has the index finger notch, and the forks & gap are a differect shape. The lines are also straighter in places. The main similarity seems to be in the handle..

I like it Chef. I'll be interested to see what the crew says but It has a pretty good look all its own. And its designed for OTT as was intended at the beginning of time so I like that to. :) You going to build one?

Thanks Dave I like it too, I'm hoping guys think it's fairly unique. I am thinking about building one yes, the one I built for my little guy kind of inspired this one and that one shoots pretty good. Since I'm getting better at shooting instinctive, I want to practice with a rig that's got enough power to do the job properly. Hence this design lol. :)

It should work nicely, I prefer low forks for this type of shooting. Also noticed wider bands reset after each shot more consistent. Tangles less.
Me as well, I lean my forks waaay forward though so its not usually an issue. Like this:

I do that as well. Less tangle, less slap and makes for a natural forward flip on release. Now with PFS's maybe not so much, no need.

In some respects, your design reminds me of this now classic OTT from Flatband. One of my most prized slingshots.
Holy crap that awesome!! Ive now made a frame that Bill Hays had under his hat, and and a Flatband I didnt know existed - surely im on the right desgin track! LOL thanks Blue!

I suspect that there are a bunch of these floating around - I could be wrong of course. Maybe FB will chime in.

The flared part of the grip on the lower left side hooks the palm of the gripping hand where the pinky finger meets the palm of the hand. This in turn enables the pinky ring and middle finger to exert pressure when the bands are pulled. The pressure is balanced by counter-pressure of the thumb. Thus the bands and the middle, ring and pike are exerting pressure towards you while the thumb and the area where the pinky joins the palm exert pressure away from you. The index finger provides stability.

It really is a remarkable design. I imagine that FB would be pleased if you incorporated it into your design. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery.

looks good. all frames are merely a variation of the humble Tree Fork. if it fits your hand and shoots well then it fulfills it's purpose. i've made a few myself from birch multiplex. the fact i know there of my creation makes shooting them all the more enjoyable .
