That's a good one, Harp. I think it'll be a good shooter for you. Tubes? Should I even ask, ha ha.

That's about the size I make mine now, half handle and half fork. It allows you to keep the size somewhat reasonable but have a large fork for passing stones and other ersatz ammo.

Please do show us when you get it completed, and glad you were able to get to your car finally.

I believe it's maple...but not 100% sure
