An Oak

Hi all,

This is another one I found sitting in the corner for some years until I realized it had some potential.

I did not want to carve it, I just sanded it lightly in order not to destroy surface stripes; i even left one of the forks to be considerably thicker than the other one,

It is finished it with my secret mixture of 1 part of BLO 1 part of Turpentine and 1 part of Bees-wax and banded with 2 cm wide TBG.

It shoots well in both hands, albeit right hand somewhat better:

Wood Natural material Terrestrial plant Trunk Hardwood

Hand Plant Wood Terrestrial plant Gesture

Plant Wood Natural material Trunk Tree

Wood Natural material Religious item Hardwood Trunk

I hope you enjoyed,

Cheers,

jazz

Hey that is a very nice shooter. I like the finish and the shape. Looks like you could rig it up to shoot about any size ammo that you wanted.

Looks to be about 31/2" c2c fork gap?

Thanks, SJAaz! It is true, it can shoot anything, in my case it will be lead from 8-11 mm.

Very nice!!
Thanks, devils son in law!

That one is going to last ages, that's for sure.

Oak frames are like some types of wine: the older, the better :D

And nice call to leave the inner stripes. Do you know they are caused by the tree's bark? The thicker the bark, the deeper those stripes are.

BEAUTIFUL slingshot!!!

Thanks, SLING-N-SHOT, I am glad you like it. And my secret mixture got even more secret: first you mix 1 part of BLO and 1 part of Turpentine and then you melt 1 part of Bees-wax and add it to the previous two (or vice versa..) and then you stir it occasionally as it cools down.

Thank you, bingo!

The strips are really beautiful and unique. Do They add texture?
Thanks, NSFC! Yes, the strips are some half a millimeter (my guess) deep and you can feel it when trying it with the nail and for that reason the grip is soooo friendly..

I'm thinking if you looked in a dictionary for "Natural Slingshot" you'd likely see a photo of this one
