My main question is if anyone uses larger ammo than 3/8 steel for target work. It seems that the world has gone crazy with 8mm or smaller ammo, and although I can see the merits of gaining good projectile speeds when using small ammo, I can't help but wonder if 7/16 size ammo would be easier to get a consistent release with.
When I was shooting fixed anchor things were more clear cut, but now I can easily get good speeds with larger ammo, thanks to a 55.5" draw length, so I am not sure.
Thing is, I never shot larger ammo than 3/8 steel extensively, so I have no personal experience, and getting some 7/16 bb's is a bit costly, so I seek the wisdom of the forum.

I like target shooting 7-16 steel cause it's what I Hunt with. It shoots nice with light butter bands. My fingers have trouble handling very small ammo without dropping a bunch.
If you get the occasional hand slap with 3/8, it's an easy fix with 7/16.
It may shoot a bit slower but it really packs a wallop at the end. And that's fun!!

I am one of the folkowers of the 8mm vraze...I also love 6mm and 4.5.

I did recently add 5.6mm lead ball to some 8mm hex nuts. Wow! Those requires slightly heavier bands and shred whatever I hit, even with my short draw length (56cm to 58cm tops).

But I will share this, Skropi. When I get a new flips I always shoot 7/16" ammo so I can see the ammo in flight much easier. But that draw weight weara my hands out much faster.

So I guess Inshoot bigger ammo when I want to break stuff. (I Leave no trace & recycle afterwards.)

I get the occasional, minor handslap with 3/8 steel, nothing serious though. I am really just wondering why most people choose to shoot small ammo. Even 3/8 steel is a bit on the small side/fiddly for me, and although I shoot it well, I am wondering if going up in size would be just a more relaxed way of shooting.
