Apparently they grow in central ohio haha. I'm pretty sure it's maple that had been sitting in my yard for a while. It actually had termites, you can see a couple of there tunnels on one side. I like taking the pretty rough wood that a lot of people would probably pass up on and try to work with that. It has more character

Yessir I totally agree....I even like inlaying crushed Turquoise in some of the voids and bug trails....gives a nice pop of color against the beautiful spalted grain.
