G'day everyone just thought I'd share a nice slingshot I finished today. A pine slingshot carved from a big forkI made it just to shoot 8mm steel even though it would easily take a bigger set of bands and ammo. However I have recently switch to 8mm for everything. The slingshot was sanded to 400 grit and after the first 2 coats of clear gloss varnish, it was sanded back a little with 1000 grit wet and dry sand paper. Wetting the sand paper prevents it from leaving any streaks on the wood and provides a super smooth finish. The fork tips are sharp which makes aiming nice and easy. Thanks for checking it out I'll add some pics to go along.

Very nice work, congratulations!

I would suggest you stick to your setup and 8 mm steel and never go up because pine is - as far as I know - not readily recommended wood for making slingshots, so some research on that matter wouldn't hurt.

cheers,

jazz

Yeah mate thats pine multiplex I use a 25/20 1mm sheshou with 11mm steel on the other pine frame I have its very strong. Pine slingshots made out of tree forks are very strong, however pine slingshots made from multiplex are weak, and can be lethal to the unsuspecting user haha. As you can see by the photos I attached that I am not the only one to say this, as well as some other experienced people on the forum. These were from the other pine fork I made.
