So Jodi challenged me to a shootoff tonight. I accepted, of course. Snatch the pebble from my hand, young grasshopper, and all that. We made up some targets on the cardboard pizza circles I scored from work and got to it.
She shot her first round with the Fish Hunter Ergo copy that I made her. Bands are Theraband Gold, 7/8" x 5/8":
Dishware Paint Art Circle Serveware

Pretty good! I liked that there were not many shots that were off to the sides but they were in a line up and down. The FHE copy is made of multiplex and is very light, which makes it a challenge to hold steady in the vertical plane.
I had an idea for her to try my SPS out since it's significantly heavier and might help her to hold her aim. I banded the SPS up with the same TBGs and she took a few warm up shots with promising results. We put up new targets and had at it:
Wire stripper Tool Circle Hand tool Snips

Much better, especially considering it was her first time shooting it. Two bullseyes vs. zero with the multiplex one and a good grouping.
The padawan is still no threat to this Jedi, though

M_J,
How did you wrap the TBG onto the SPS forks? It looks like you used bands slightly wider that the forks to maintain a secure hold, or did you use the technique Jim advises where you wrap the forks twice with the ties bfore laying the bands on?

I've ordered an SPS from Jim, I shoot flats OTT, I'm going to try tubes too, but I just want to know the best way to wrap.

I can't wait to get my SPS.

Cheers, Hamm.

good going MJ it's great to have some one to shoot with, my girl has more of the slingshots I have made than I do, along with one from DH, Flatband and Bunny Buster..she does prefer naturals though..
and while she may think I'm retarded from time to time it's not about slingshots, swords or guns...

M_J, you have a father daughter thing working here that would make a lot of my friends envious. Finding quality time with ones daughter doing something you both enjoy is special. As for retarded, when I come into work with chigger bites and misquito bumps they ask me what happened. I tell then searching for slingshot forks. Bingo, there is that "You're retarded " look. Never fails. Such is life. Loco en la cabeza!

I show my wife all of my new ones and her response always makes me feel like I'm being patted on the head and told, "Let's put it on the refrigerator where EVERYONE can see it!"
