Making looped tube configurations and wanted to know who used looped 1842 for 3/8" steel in a OTT set up ?

Want to know how much hand slap U get get as it is better you get the hand slap than me --- LOL, LOL, LOL.

I consider looped 1842 too much rubber for 3/8 steel. You may finds this chart of interest. Full draw for me is 34 inches. Note that 2040 and 1842 are very close in performance, and that, at 30 inches draw, you have to shoot 1/2 inch lead for looped 1842 to show any advantage over looped 2040.
