Finished up this Baltic ply board cut with a palm swell. It's I'm sure this design has a name but I'm calling this one the Beetle.

This was my second version of essentially the same frame. I made several revisions. I made this one a little bigger. It has a few ounces of lead inside the handle. Increased the fork width to about an inch. And remembered to put in a lanyard hole. I also rounded out all the angles a little more.

Finished it with iron acetate and Several coats of BLO. Once it cures all the way I'll probably shine it up more.

Have it outfitted with 1"-3/4" .45 sumeike and a supersure pouch.

I didn't finish it in time to shoot outside but I did a few test shots in the garage. Seems like it will be a good shooter. Tomorrow I'll take about an inch off the AL and I think it will send 3/8 steel with some authority.

Love everything about that build Scrat

Have you ever thought of trying what I call the "Hognose " lanyard hole attachment method ?
That frame would be perfect for it. ( see my latest post from Frames of 2021 for two examples of it.

Thanks! I think you are right about the name. I cut a bunch of templates out a long time ago and I couldn't remember the names. Now that you say that I think the original was based on the lucky 7. And this one was a trace of that sling.

Thanks! I just checked those out. They look fantastic and you are right, That would've been perfect. Do you just drill two holes angled toward each other? Also as a current New Mexican I really dig your makers mark.

I saw someone, I think Mojave Mo, do a single hole in the bottom with a pin through it perpendicular. I considered that as an alternative.

Guess I'll just have to do a few more! I wanted a redo on this one anyway as I boogered up the rough cut on the palm swell. It's not too noticeable but I think I can do it better

Yessir, I just drill two holes angled inward in a V pattern till they intersect....it's a little tough sometimes to get the Paracord through, but I've made a little hook ended paper clip that you can snag the cord with and pull it through.....seems to work well

Tks for the compliments I made Native American style flutes for about 13 years and started putting that Zuni Zia symbol in between all the finger holes, so a single one on my slings is instantly recognized now.
