I've struggled with band cutting. I currently use a rotary cutter and steel rule on a cutting board and I still have trouble making an accurate cut and getting bands the same width. To make things worse, my latest designs involve not just straights or tapers, but complex curves.

I think I have found a solution, though. I once had some corrugated cardboard boxes made and they used a steel rule die. They laser cut into plywood and hammered a razor blade backwards into the groove. This is then run in a press and cuts the cardboard. It seems the same technique is used in industry to cut rubber sheet. All I need to do is define the curve in Adobe Illustrator and they will make the template, which I can buy and use.

If I have a template made that has several bands laid out along a width or Thera-band, I can produce bands very rapidly.

Why on Earth would your bands have complex curves

? In any event I like the idea of templates. I am hesitant to make bands for the same reasons, I can see myself tearing my hair out. You may well have found a niche. Band making seems to be getting more and more popular. With this in mind you should make and sell them.

Complex taper curves and other flares and stuff shoot slightly faster and last much longer, enabling me to make narrow bands with strong tapers that can last for thousands of shots.

Cutting is the pits, though. Unless you have one of these:

I'm sorry, MJ, I won't be selling any time soon. Mods can't compete with Site Vendors. My favourite band supplier right now is Gary. If you want my bands there's only one way and that's to barter for something I need and can't get here. If you're interested, there's a list of stuff that comes to mind here: http://slingshotforu...hots-for-trade/

I have never even thought of curved bands,I rely on the taper to deliver the performance I need. It will be interesting to see the results you have with these.

I like your die cutter setup, good job in working this process out.
It's too bad you don't/won't sell some of those tapered bands.
It'd be nice to have a couple to try out.

Paul, I'd be happy to trade 19" of any colour Thera-band per bandset. This offsets my supply costs and the 2 for one markup partly reflects labour. This is a limited time deal until I find Thera-band locally.
