I think I've noticed that bands take a few shots to warm up at the start of a session.

Have I imagined that? Is it in fact me that's warming up at the start of a session?

I was wondering if excercising the bands a few times (by stretching them out and letting them back a few times) might achieve the same as shooting and missing those first four or five targets?

Brand new never stretched latex needs to be pulled about ten times to break it in and loosen it up . Think of new latex balloons which are next to impossible to inflate by mouth unless pulled several times to soften the latex . After latex break in I think it's more our muscles that need to warm up before shots get on target than the latex warming up .

I learned that for the first time with tubes. When I started shooting them I cut them 5:1 like normal and they refused to reach anchor. Set it aside in defeat thinking maybe I'm just too weak to shoot them. Tried again some time later. Gave them quite a few good long stretches before shooting. Reached my anchor just fine.

With the precise bands I have been using they definitely need a warm-up shot. Just 1 though, I think. Not just when new. Every time. It's a bit frustrating really. What if I was hunting and only have one shot? I just got my .7 simple shot latex roll in. I have only shot it in the dark with a flash light so its hard to gauge impact point when I miss. It will be interesting to see if different elastics have different warm up needs. I have noticed my looped 1632s actually seem to lose a bit of power after every successive shot, which is odd

It definitely works.

0 Degrees here again today and I gave the bands 10 good stretches before shooting - I was hitting after the second shot.

At the end of the day I suppose a slingshot is 99% of the bands fitted to it so we are at the mercy of the materials and the physics therein.
