I came across this old slingshot the other day. I hadn't seen it for years (the fork hit attests to that:)). It was designed for the square latex bands of the sort that I found with it and because I wanted to try it, I put them on.

Barbaric doesn't begin to explain how bad these really are. If it were the strength of the bands that was important this thing should shoot a mile. As it is it took an amazing amount of energy to pull back to stop and then the ball sort of lobbed out at what I would guess 100fps.

BTW, this is a frame I will never use again. If someone wants it PM me, send me postage and it's yours (it's brass).

Wow Winnie - a fork in the evolutionary slingshot tree. Small slingshot with inefficient square bands and a huge pouch.

Someone with woodworking skills could use that as a brass core. Way beyond what I am capable of.

I was hoping one of the builders here would take up Winnie's offer and use it as the core with some cool scales. If no one else is interested, I have an idea for the frame.

I am sending Winnie a PM.

Dan, you're amazing. Nice to see someone who's brain is always ticking. It would probably be better served by sending it off to you to play around with. What I carry and shoot these days is so minimal that I know that I'll never put it in my pocket again and though it's a little beat up it still has the heft of brass. Might be worth taking a buffer to it.
I'm out of the office these days so if you wouldn't mind resend me your address and I'll send it off to you.
