Hey guys! Here's a unique one for you. I have been collecting interesting bugs for a bit, with hopes of incorporating them into my builds. Here was my first go at it. I chose 2 large beetles. I used rubbing alcohol as a preservative for the bugs and this kept them pretty juicy. I dont think this was a good thing, as the resin didnt adhere as well as I wanted it to. I used a piece of oak driftwood as a base for the build. It was darkened a bit when wetted by the resin. This was definitely a learning experience. Thanks for looking!

Now that is different Bud! Did you take a page out of the "Paleontologist's Handbook" under the section titled "Fossils in Amber"? Very cool!

UNIQUE is IMHO, an appropriate description - You came up with a cool SS and learned something in the making - A winner in two ways for sure!!
Thanks!

I certainly had that in mind while doing this. I a totally have some amber colored dye for some future builds.

Diggin' it Drew!!

We cut down a big Oak years ago in the front yard and the last few years our yard gets over-run with those Stag Beetles. I think the larvae are eating the old Oak roots, I scoop them up in a bucket and dump huge piles of them in the woods across the road.
