Here's a slingshot I jokingly call the Black Beauty. It was made from buckthorn dead wood that was full of splits. I was going to throw it out, lol! I stabilized it with super glue and then filled the splits and crevices with epoxy. I wanted a black slingshot, so I sprayed it black. It shoots nicely with 7/16" steel bearings. It's a heavy slingshot and rock solid, so I can shoot it with heavy drawing bands.
Here are my latest forks. Notice I'm now going with slender forks. Small slingshots are pocketable and fun to shoot! When these are dry, I'll cut them way down. Left to right: Buckthorn, Chokecherry, Smooth Sumac and unidentified. The unidentified fork will soon be identified.
Yes, you have to be precise carving the skinny ones. I just like their small size, and I prefer to shoot expendable ammo, like 1/4", so small slingshots with weak bands are more my thing.
Right now, it's tapered 1" to 3/4". Nothing drastic, but I'm planning to try out some super tapers soon, lol! Probably some Simpleshot Black too. I'd like black bands on it.
