Hi folks
With my new prototype ``Hammermil`` slingshot, I just got done cleaning this rabbit for the table.
It took a couple shots, but I nailed him at 28 yds.
I like this slingshot alot! Very accurate, and powerful with a 3/8 steel ball.
I hit him in the neck, and the ball came out the top of his head. He never knew what hit him.
Gonna make some more of these forks.

It's a cottontail rabbit.

As far as being sad, that's a matter of perspective. If you look at it simply as the ending of the life of a small cute animal, sure, it's kinda sad. On the other hand, most animals exist to be a source of food for some other animal (and for man). Tom ate the rabbit, so both he and the rabbit have played their respective parts in the food chain and the cycle of nature. In that respect, there's a certain beauty and balance to it. Not trying to start an argument with you or anything, dgui, just offering a different viewpoint.

The way I look at it,
I like to eat meat. Vegatables go well with meat. Meat has lots of protein, vegatables do not.
I like McDonalds hamburgers. I like hot dogs too. Chicken is great on the BBQ, and makes a nice soup also.
Pork ribs...yummy!
My point is...All meat comes from warm and fuzzy animals.
Cows, chickens, pigs, etc. They are slaughtered by the thousands every day to feed the hungry humans.
Animals I hunt, have a better advantage then coralled, caged, and penned animals, raised only for human consumption.
My quarry has the option to run away, or hide, or outsmart the hunter.
My hunting tactics are a one on one experience, fair chase. The animals I kill, are wild, cunning, beautiful, and tasty. The more primitive the weapon used,is the ultimate challenge.
Most deer I have taken, have been killed with me on the ground, on their level. Bow,shotgun,
muzzleloader, pistol, rifle. I have taken them with everything but a sharp stick.
Same with turkeys,on the ground with a bow.
So..if a person is a vegetarian, it is their choice. They dont need to tell the rest of us what to eat.
Like Ted Nugent says `` Whack em ,Stack em ,and Pack em``
Thats what we do here.
We enjoy the hunt, and the challenge, and eating our fuzzy animals.

+1 On that!

If ya can beat it in a fair fight and it fits on a plate, it's food! My daughters friend says she doesen't eat anything with a face. I used the old joke that I don't care if it has a face, in fact my baloney has a first name.

I respect the animals I kill by making sure the kill is swift. If I can't, I don't take the shot. I have taken game with just about every weapon you can. I eat everything I kill except rats. I don't poach and I leave the woods cleaner than when I have arrived. I volteer and donate money to improving wild habitat.

For those who are interested in how to clean a bunny and cook it watch:
I prefer to cook them over a camp fire. Everything tastes better when you are camping.
