Greetings SlingshotForum friends!!

Today was blowgun practice day. Since the weather was relatively mild, I made a video of my practice afternoon.

I brought some homemade darts to play with. Materials used were duct tape, bamboo skewers and epoxi glue.

It's incredible how fast and powerful they are, for one who's accostumed with the heavier Cold Steel mini-broadhead darts.

They are cheap and easy to made. All in all, I'm very happy with these. Check the video for more details.

cool, that's some good shooting, as usual. going to have to give my bamboo darts just like those a try outside now.
THANKS A LOT for your feedback, my friend!!

Yes, rain made an intermission today. So I took the opportunity to play with these nasties.

I'm really enjoying them. Shot from a .625 caliber they really are fast! And they pack a punch (in the video, you didn't saw me taking them out of the tree, but they were really dug in)

When you go for your practice session, don't forget to post your results :)

Awesome shooting and darts! Those bamboo darts are a blast. And the work great for starlings in a hay barn where you don't want to be sticking metal darts up into the rafters, or slingshot ammo through the steel roof:)
THANK YOU so much, sir!!

I'm not a hunter yet, because I don't have that need. But I suspect these ones work in a vast array of prey, mainly birds.

They stuck in to the wood surprisingly hard. The only downside to these is that you need to resharpen its point often.

I think I'll have to find a functional way of harden wood. Or add a metal point of some sort.

And yes, they are a lot more forgiving to the surroundings :D

HeyQ! I'm going to guess that if you dipped the tips of those bamboo darts in superglue a few times you'd get the same effect that some slingframe builders get when they treat their frames with superglue....?!

As a mere fact, I was thinking of that!

The thing is: is there any tutorial on how to harden or coating wood with superglue?? Do I have to sand it several times??

These darts are so inexpensive and easy to made that I'm not sure if investing in that finish would be profitable enough. Perhaps yes...

THANK YOU so much for your feedback and tip!!!

I imagine an effect like dipping a candle in wax. Let each dipping dry real well, then just dip it again. I don't think a mirror finish is your goal, just a tougher tip right?

I think I'll give it a go. I guess the liquid superglue, Loctite type should do the trick.

Most obliged, sir!!! ;)

Nice job on the darts Q . Impressive groups on the 15 meter rounds . You must be wrecking darts at 10 meters . I notice you stager your stance with one foot in front of the other . Have you tried having your feet even distance with your body parallel to target ? Seems to be a better stance for shooting blowguns . IMO

I'm trying to give my thick bamboo skewers steel tips. Bamboo flies great, but the balance is lacking, point is too fragile, needs to be stabilised with heavy point, (Front-Weighted)

Here's the plan.
I've thought about this problem many times.

I guess there's a ton of solutions out there like nails, needle tips, x-acto blades. Perhaps even dip the tips into some kind of resin.

Nevertheless, these are not meant to be very durable. The only question remaining is its flying path. So far, I've been very surprised how flat and straight they fly.

Of course, this goes out the window on a windy day :)

What this guy's videos this is how I learned to make my mouth pieces and they also has some really good dark making videos
Yes, I know this fellow!! Very talented!!

Do you know he is Portuguese too, like myself!! I've never met him though.

THANK YOU so much, my friend!!! Means a lot your feedback, of course!!

About my stance, you pose some curious questions. For my three weapons of choice (slingshot, sling and blowgun), I use a very similar stance.

I think I'm very accostumed to this position now for a change. I wonder if shooting with feet at even distance would have an increase in lung power... I can try it!

Hey, Treefork, what about this?? We should have an international blowgun contest! Targets are great for this, the darts stick into position to be verified and it is easy to make a video anywhere, both indoors or in the wild. No prizes, just for the fun!!

Take a piece of cordage about 12" longer than blowgun attach a nail or small lead weight to one end make a loop on the other to make a pull-through device to clean and swab the pipe every 5-6 shots. A clean dry tube shoots faster YMMV
Thank you so much for your input, my friend!!

Actually, I have a similar hack in my pocket. I clean my blowgun every 10/15 shots.

The diference is that I weigh my string with an hex nut :)

Awesome shootn Q!
You really get tight at 15m. Loved the video.
Many thanks Ibojoe!!

You're most kind!

Bamboo darts are incredible addictive. You can't stop shooting them!! :D

Nice! Q

Did the original tribes no jist heat tips on a fire tae harden?
Thanks for your feedback, my friend!!

Yes, I did hardened them a bit with that process. Doesn't seem to be that lasting, although there's an increase in resistance.

What everybody else said, great job, impressive. Fine video.
Thank you so much, Bugar!!!

You're most kind!

I had 2 purposes with this video: show the power and accuracy of a blowgun, with homemade darts.

I think the video showcased that. Now I have to put my brain at work to be creative in the next one :)
