Here's a nice little shooter I banded up today. Its one of the stronger ones of the batch completed recently. I started it off with AusBand Blue (15mm x 170mm) but it broke after only about 50 shots. So I dug deeper into the parts bag and pulled out some pieces of 1745 Tubing. Figured I'd give it a go and see how it went.

Turns out its a good combo

Shooting from 5m it tore a can to shreds no problems using Galvanised M6 nuts. At one point, a ricochet came back and hit me on the chin.. Lucky I was wearing safety glasses! I used a HD Canvas workbag as a backstop and as you can see in the second pic, it handles full strength shots with nary a mark. The third pic shows that the bench isnt so tough tho (oops!!). Fourth pic shows the attachment method, which is namely a large number of wraps with the band tie

Here's the pics!!

Nice job on that!! I have one word of caution on those single 1745 tubes. I found that because they stretch to be so small, they eventually tend to work their way out from under the rubber band tie at the forks. To defeat that tendency, I use a piece of larger diameter rubber tubing slipped over the end of the 1745 ... use a string loop dipped in alcohol to pull the 1745 through the larger tubing. Then I just wrap around the larger tubing and the contained 1745. I have never had that work loose.

I think the 1745 tubing is a good choice for boo shooters. You can pseudo taper them (half doubled) and get plenty of power with a relatively light pull. But even singles work well.

Cheers ....... Charles

Yeah the first wrap wasnt so secure, it kept creeping out, so I put another wrap over the top of it and now it doesnt budge. In total there is about 30cm of unstretched band wrapped around it so I'm pretty happy it isn't going anywhere
