This would be a cool effect if it was possible, is it? I know that a boomerang needs to be spinning but could this not be done with a slingshot?
Imagen to be able to hit targerts behind corners stones or trees=)
I do not ask if it would be possible to launch a boomerang from a slingshot but if you could fire boomerang style ammo!

Only way to find out is to try it, J.J.
Let us know how you make out.

Even if you don't want to actually do the experiment, I'd like to see a design of the ammo.

Yeah, I'd also like to see some ammo designs if you have anything specific in mind. I've never given it any thought, but it may well be possible to make such a projectile. THink about when you shoot a flat rock out of a slingshot. It will go straight for a short distance and then veer off either to one side or up or down. That may be the hard part is getting it to go the direction you want.
Interesting idea, though.

edit: Oops, Fish beat me to the flat rock phenomenon.

I don't even think it would need to spin if it was symmetrical...
The only issue is weight, if you used metal you might not get enough lift to drag it into a turn.
