So here is my final version on my home design Mini Shooter. This is my 5th and final version of this slingshot to get something that is perfectly molded to my grip.

I bought a sheet of 6mm full carbon fiber material and was able to make four 12 mm slingshots out of it...just barely enough room, but I got full use out of the sheet. I made 3 Mini Shooters and 1 V Scout. I LOVE the feel of carbon fiber and it wasn't too hard to work with, if you get the proper diamond crusted edge blades.

Shooting: The Mini Shooter is so dead accurate, it matches my fancy titanium D1....but I can keep it in my pocket and shoot any time I walk by my catch box. It is setup up for 1/4" and 8mm only but that is all I shoot anyway. the V Scout shoots well but it can't compete with the Mini Shooter or the D1 in my hands anyway. I love that I don't have to use my fiber optic sight and it fits in my hand just right.

Having never used carbon fiber before I am amazed at its strength and lightness. The Mini Shooter weights only 77grams (2.7oz) it feels so light and solid at the same time. I have an 6" off cut with a 1" section in the middle that was only 2mm wide, I can not break it in half no matter how hard I try from both directions?! Since this little test piece is only 6mm thick its long edge it looks like it should easily snap in half?!?! It doesn't even bend a little and I have given up on breaking it with my hands.

Love this little slingshot and I am taking it on every walk from now on. I have plans for both slingshots if anyone wants to make one.

Hope everyone has a great week!! I do my LAST chemo treatment this Wednesday (5.19.21)!!!!!!!!!!! :king:  :neener: :panic: SO VERY EXCITED to get my life and being cancer free!!!!!

Cheers

No Hoss not hard at all. You just need a jigsaw blade with the carbon dust or diamond dust edge. It looks like a blade with a bunch of sand on the edge and no teeth. And then I just used a diamond edged cutter for my Dremel on some of the harder cuts since I was trying to get as many slingshots as I could out of it. I use the normal sanding wheel on my Dremel to do all the shaping and then hand sand and everything smooth to feel. Not hard at all to work with and so strong.

Thanks Reed!! It has been the longest six months I've ever experienced. Honestly it feels more like 5 to 6 years have passed not 6 months?? Very excited to get my strength, energy, balance, stability and no more shaky hands back! You don't know how frustrating it is to be just turned 50 years old and feel like 65 or 70. Looking down that slingshot while my hands are shaking trying to hit a 30 mil spinner is frustrating at times. But when I do hit that spinner while shaking hands and wobbly balance I know once I get better I am going to be even more accurate if I can hit it in those conditions.

Very nice job! If I could offer some unsolicited advice...

You might want to drill and pin both of those. Because the CF is both very smooth and very rigid, if you get a frame/fork hit the shock could break the adhesive bond. Ask me how I know...

I'm keeping a good thought for you and yours regarding your chemo.

My mom recently had her stem cells harvested after her multiple myeloma went into remission, and my MIL just had a mastectomy, so I have some insight into what you've been going through. I really hate cancer.

As always, great slingshot and even better attitude.

However, as someone who is now past the median of 65 to 70, I will exercise my right to object to your comment about feeling as though you are my age. On behalf of all forum members of a certain age - Brother, you don't know the half of it.

I propose a shoot in Vince's honor, 15 years hence. We can call it "The Annual Welcome to Dotage Shoot."

Good point and well taken Tober8man. I do not know what it feels like to be 65 or 70. And I'm hoping and I'm working towards being healthy and active very fit at that age myself. It just feels like I'm weak and tired and feeling old. I'm sure in a month or two I'll be back to my old self and feeling fit in alive and fresh again. No offense intended to those older than me, I am sure I don't know the half of what it's like to be 70 and I am down for a slingshot shoot in 15 years!

So excited for Wed. and then the years to come after that! Thanks for all the kind words guys, I really appreciate it.

Cheers all

Thank you for the advice on the pins and my slingshot. I thought about that myself but I used an angle grinder to scratch up both inner surfaces pretty well before I glued them with epoxy and let them dry for good 24 hours. That is something I will definitely keep in mind easy enough to add them.

Sorry to hear about your mom and her cancer struggles as well. Glad to hear she is in remission. Cancer is a cruel bastard to those of us with cancer and our loved ones. Blessings to you and your family!

Cheers
