Made this one from a spalted cherry trunk for a barter trade with a friend.

took about a total 14 hours of carving and sanding in all over many days and shoots like a dream!

It is probably my favorite one so far and was a bit hard to let go of it. :)

Using my trusted Mora knife a few files and sandpaper.

finished it with yacht varnish.

Carving that fork with a Mora knife is an achievement. Lots of work involved.
Yeah, but I do love the process of shaving off bits of wood to get to the desired shape.
I appreciate people use belt sanders, but I prefer to treat my slings as sculptures.
Here here! I'm a huge champion of the quiet build. Great job!

I find hand carving, sanding, and filing meditative and therapeutic.

Im a simple man.All I ever wanted growing up is to have a poach to sit whittle and spit with the company of a mug filled with your choice of fluid and a loyal dog.

Ive been very fortunate in my life goal maybe because its so simple or or its in-beaded in my spirit so deep that it comes natural.

Its a comfortable feeling knowing we are not alone in our almost obsessive habits. Being able to find peace in something so simple and cheap is reassuring.

Sand away my fellow brother-n, sand away. (this sounds like the beginning of a song)

Sounds like the perfect, relaxing way to spend an evening to me, count me in.

Add a mixture of Georgia cultural attributes and Indiana weather, today(75 degrees)!

Ill make the fire and you bring your own rocking chair, and we will try to wear out my porch.

Would love to do just that my friend, and leave this Georgia weather in the rear view for a few days.....92 yesterday....it is in the low 70's on my way to work in the mornings at least.
