Hi guys,

This might be a silly question, but would it be safe to use an old side grain chopping board to make a board cut sling shot? The one I have in mind is Acacia wood.

So I could use any hardwood at all? I have some cherry hanging around aswell, might save the chopping board lol.

I wouldn't recommend cross grain or even planks that are neither made from a single slab or morticed. It can be done, but it'll be weaker.

Thanks for the comments guys,

I'm looking to make a nice board cut out of a pretty piece of wood, but I don't want to end up with a fork prong sticking out of my face!

I think Cherry and acacia are both hard woods, and I'll have the grain running vertical.

the toilet seat was 100 years old, it was out of a old house, my Bamboo shooter what Martin gave me was a chopping board, its a work of art and still going strong, took a lot of game with it, and it got slingshot of the month for him, jeff
