My current fav for the last few years has been 7mm steel. Second would be 5/16" (8mm) followed by BBs.
When I started into slingshots (1991) I shot .44cal lead exclusively. I had a mold and was not aware of the assortment from online retail. In 2000 I bought a .375" mold and enjoyed the increased speed. Around 2010 I found the online dealers and started with 3/8" steel... then 5/16" ... then some 1/4" and 7mm. I settled on the 7mm for good speed with a low draw weight. The BBs are great for winter when I step outside for a short session with a pop can.
