Sorry if this has been covered before - I’ve been messing around with blowguns for a while and have been wondering what a typical distance is for people to shoot. And what their general accuracy is at that distance. Trying to figure out if I’m hopeless, have something drastically wrong with my dart making, or just need more practice. Thanks!

At 10 m I can put most in cd size target with 4 foot
Tube. I shot 30 years ago and due to sling shots have rediscovered "lungun" fun.
Darts must be as perfect cones and straight shafts to fly true IMHO!
I used to and do now spin the shaft between my fingers to test cone to shaft connection and trueness. Also now ONLY shoot factory made cones and darts at thick dense strofoam to not
Damage darts and easy to remove.
I bought so cheap bb gun targets for
Practise.
Other thought is building pressure with tounge on tube exhaling as quick and follow thru to get constant force is helpful.
Just my very limited thoughts.
As I have found sights aid my sling shot shooting
With fiber optic colors will make simple for my blow gun. Nice benifit anchor always the same!

Thanks treefork. Is 10m a typical distance? That’s what I’ve been practicing at - doing pretty well, but have to work on consistency. Not moving the bore is a big one, it seems harder to keep steady than some other shooting sports and requires some concentration, since it’s attached to my face!

I think 10 meters is a typical distance for target shooting.

I shoot blowgun on an occasional basis, and think I'm doing well to keep 3 of 5 shots in a 3-inch circle. On a good day, I will punch holes in a couple of cones, and the satisfaction is worth the replacement cost!

33 feet is too far to begin and learn . At least it was for me . Start out at about 15 feet and go from there . The trajectory seems flat at 15 and should build your confidence and technique . Use several targets to avoid damaging darts by Robin Hooding . 30 feet is entering long shots for a blowgun . Get creative and just have fun with it . Don't over think it . Relax and really see the target .

Just started with the blowgun seriously. I got the 4ft cold steel professional blowgun with all of their darts. In my opinion those cones make all the difference and the bore of the cold steel blowgun is polished glass smooth so you get a really clean release from the end of the barrel. I was never as accurate with my conduit pipe blowgun as I am with this.

I then bought the five foot Tim Wells two piece blow gun and works exactly the same except you get a little more distance out of it at the same flat trajectory. I found myself perfectly flat at 10m with the five foot blowgun and at 8 meters I'm perfectly flat with the four foot blowgun.

Just had my first kill today of a squirrel with their razor darts and it went straight through the squirrel and only the cone stop it. Kill that squirrel dead at 8 meters and going to have a tasty meal tonight.!

Cheers
