Hey all, I've been trying to find an LBS or mini LBS template as I want to make one out of an old 9ply skateboard kicktail. Does anyone have a link or picture?
If the frame is patented like the SPS then my apologies to the creator, otherwise I'd love to get my hands on it.

The SPS is the only frame I know of that is patented and I believe it's the process of the core that is the patent, not the shape.

Also glad to hear that about the SPS, because today I made a mini one from a skateboard tail to go with the Micro Ranger I cut from the same tail about 2 months ago.

As long as you aren't selling, I'm pretty sure any design is a free for all for personal use. No one can stop you from making a copy of a frame for home use. The patent police have bigger issues than a slingshot forum guy making a frame for personal use.

Most makers just ask, and it's common courtesy, to give credit to the frame maker you are copying or emulating.

The whole SPS patent is a giant can of worms that I never cared to open or had an interest in.

sorry but its not based on that .. the LBS is my design that I created after years of shooting the opfs . So if anything it's based on that. The LBS has curves that I added as it morphed over the years .. the 3 amigos template is just that.. a template .. glad to clear that up lol

But sorry, I still feel it's a copy of the "The 3 Amigos" with a few minor tweaks. I'd love to see scale versions of them side by side, in template form.

It wouldn't be the first time someone based a frame on someone else's design and made it for profit. It happens all the time.

That Three Amigos looks pretty darn close and of course you could always add "curves" to it. Maybe Joey will add a template of his LBS, if not I could understand why. 👍

For what its worth, I had no intent on selling for profit or anything. I made 2 slings based on the LBS but with a meatier thickness and finger holes as appreciation gifts for the 2 co-workers who got me into the hobby/sport.

You're all good. Even if you did sell, nothing is patented.

We got sidetracked with the LBS vs 3 Amigos discussion. Sorry about that.
