I don't think Rufus Hussey kept track of that kind of thing!

.......can't help you there, but I'm sure you could hang with the best of them.

Chief AJ is suppose to have some type of wing shooting / airial record but I cant seem to find it in Guiness or anywhere else. There is a Chinese fellow that shot 10 cans in one minute but he also had a miss. I would think Rufus and his Bean shooter would not miss very often.

There is a DVD showing Chief AJ shooting thrown targets, indoors, at fairly close range. He is using Slingshots made by Flatband, and shooting paint balls. I recall it was 1500 consecutive hits over 2 days, when he was 70. The shot did not look difficult but it is very impressive, I know I could not do it. It was for the Guinness World record.

I have seen my wife Nell (when she was shooting) hit 23 cans consecutively at 10 meters. I have shot a 4 inch bull 56 times consecutively at 10 meters, but not in competition. The best that I had done on a 4 inch bull in competition at 10 meters was 23 consecutitive hits. I have also shot a 4 inch bull 17 times consecutively at 20 meters in competition. – Tex-Shooter -- By the way keep Nell in your prayers as she is fighting Cancer.

There really should be a sticky for records and so forth... it'd sure be a lot of fun to know what to shoot for!

Anyway, using one of my classic modded ergos with a universal fork, 11" X 1" straight cut gold thera and .50 cal ammo... I've hit a golf ball sized target, 1.75" diameter, 15 times in a row from 10 meters. And the best I've done from 20 meters is hitting the same target 7 times in a row. Once I can regularly hit it 10 times in a row, I'll video it.

The best two pure shooting feats I've done that were videoed were:

Using the Jade Dragon, shooting from 66', hit a coke can 12 times in a row.

Using the prototype Hathcock Target Sniper (renamed from TargetMaster)... hitting a coke can 11 times in one minute, then just to show off, shooting one more shot at the connector wire cutting the can down.

Everybody misses no matter how good they are perceived to be.

I can't find Chief aj's record anywhere in the Guinness record book.Does anyone know what page it is on?
The only reference to this I have ever found is by Chief AJ himself of on a webpage of his...if anyone has some documentation would love to see it also.

There is somewhat a difference in hitting a solid object and shooting paper. When shooting a solid object any hit counts, but when shooting paper it seems like to me it is just harder to hit consistently. That may just be me. I like to shoot at a hole in a piece of cardboard. Then any hit is a miss! I also like to shoot a balloon about 3 inches in diameter at 20 meters, but I think that sometime the advanced air turbulence will pull the balloon into the shot. I say this because I seem to have better luck hitting a balloon than a heavier object. Bill Hays, I knew from your videos that you were a fine shot, but it sounds like you are on your way to being a world class shooter. Keep up the good work. -- Tex-Shooter

Good points Tex.
As someone who has shot at more than my share of paper... I can tell you shooting at a more solid object is a LOT more fun, your hits are more easy to verify. Once you make your first few good shots on paper you create a bigger than bullet sized hole, so either you have to have a witness or the perfect shots can't count. Otherwise, one could just make a hole and shoot the rest into the sky and declare a perfect target... and I've seen that done before!

Shooting at balloons and such are fun, I like that idea too.

Oh, and Tex... I made a 3/4" thick G10 master of your Classic, with universal fork tips on it. I've got some more molding stuff ordered, and after I get a good mold of the "Universal Classic" master, I'm going to send the G10 master to you... along with some of the orange wiffle golf balls I've been shooting at... Watch, then you'll make a shooting video showing all these young "bucks" how it's really supposed to be done!
Thanks again for the advice and ideas on molding these things, it's now starting to get easier to do now that I'm kind of getting a "system" down.

Tex you and your wifes shooting scores are impressive. More importantly I am very sorry to hear of your wifes illness I will surely petition The Eternal God for her full recovery.

I have a DVD that Chief AJ produced. In it he is seen hitting a flying disk about 8 inches in diameter at less than 10 meters 1500 times. He used paintballs for ammo. I do not know if it is an official Guinness record. I'll watch the segment again.

The only slingshot record listed on the Guinness website is for most cans hit in one minute.

Yeah Henry, it's like I've said before... I think there's a LOT of people who could accomplish the same thing or better. I mean, good grief I hit a can 11 times in a minute just testing out the Hathcock Target Sniper for the first time... and I just KNOW there's better slingshot shooters on here than me!

Hopefully with the new "records" thread we'll get to see some truly amazing stuff!
