On a walk on the beach with my wife I found a weathered white fork that I assume is alder.
I took it home and let it sleep for a couple nights under the wood stove. I have a moisture meter for my burning wood that I used to check the internal moisture level, So I poked it today, and it was about 14 percent. That is good enough for making selfbows so I got to whittlin'
I wish I took some before pictures. The spalting is pretty epic. I may also take more pictures tomorrow as I am not satisfied with the lighting in my kitchen.
