Found my old Daisy 856 that a buddy gave me a couple of years ago. Daisy no longer has parts for this gun so I'll use it till it drops ;- ) The gun was dusty as heck and the safety is broken, so I rubber banded it to stay on fire mode ! Looking down the bore is an adventure to find out where the rifling begins and the BB scratches end. The person I got this gun from told me all he shot in it were BB's ------- and the bore looks like it !!

I will get a gun sock and throw this gun under blankets in my car along with my Daisy Mod 105 BB gun. I have an 2 year old Crosman 760 that is a pretty good BB shooter that I may put in the jeep in place of the Daisy Mod 105 as it is MUCH more powerful, accurate and can be used for small game.

I might add that the NEW designed 760 Crosman without the [email protected] pellet loading magazine system is much better IMHO, and at $31.74 at Wally World is a pretty good deal. (Remember you can get a supply of extra parts at Crosman and keep the gun running for many, many years if oiled periodically !!)

Here is a pic of the 856 from a couple of years ago. This is an older 856 so it is just a single pellet loading rifle !

I might add that I have quite a few Daisy 880's and they are pretty good, cheap guns. Not like my myriad of Sheridans, but still good guns !

If its a beater you might try chopping the barrel like Skarrd did with his Crosman 760. It looks good and seems to be shooting well. Also I took a look around. Some suggested finding another for parts, others said that a tear down and cleaning seems to help. :iono:

That might result in finding something you can fix on your own.

also, you might be able to just change out the O rings on the pump, and possibly heat and reform the cup to rebuild it,i agree with you on the 760,they are a hard hitter, not like my son in laws Sheridan, but good budget squirell and bird guns :)
