Linden - tilia. Think you lot in the States call it Basswood.

Found this sweet little fork and finally managed to control myself and just let it be. One coat of Danish oil and a wax.

Superb timber to work. Like birch except friendlier. Not so keen on pale timbers - they will show the scuffs, but gee it's nice stuff.

I'm completely seduced by the carving potential Dayhiker, but the fork just seemed to have it all so I bit the bullet and hung back.

Appreciate your comments greatly too!

Thanks inky and yes I have been busy. Obsessed with the sport at at the mo.

Should post the pics of the miserable failures....found out the hard way that microwaving finished pieces makes for some terrific BBQ coals. Sad part is I did it twice! I laughed the second time....had too....

those "scuffs" give it an antler like look .

Top
