Hey all ... I shoot indoors in the winter, so this is not a cold weather thing. Consistently, almost every time, my first handful of shots is off target. After maybe 3-4 shots, things tend to settle in, but I would love to know if it's just me being "not in a groove yet" when I start a shooting .... OR .... if there is something mechanical going on - maybe the flat bands don't respond as predictably when they're cold and not stretched out / warmed up ??

It's almost uncanny how often I think the first couple shots should be right in there & they wind up being off by several inches. I would love to know if it's just me or if there's something mechanical going on with the first few shots & bands not being stretched out / warmed up. Thanks !

Sorry this does not help,
But I often target strike my first few shots then get worse the more I think anout what to do.
And more how inconsistant from day to day,
I have a strong feeling that like in many skill
Activities some are just more natural than others, Quite sure I will never touch bottle top cap from
10 m, half the time even with daily training, just not
A natural!
Lucky that am enjoying the path though, at least for now?

Try taking a few shots just at the box to warm up the bands, then go for the target. If you use a chronograph, you'll notice that the first few shots are cold and slower. So if they're shooting a bit low at first, that's normal. As the bands heat up from continuous use, everything evens out.

I wrote the speeds down in this video and you can watch it even out after the first few shots.

Thanks man ! That's exactly what I was wanting to find out. Come to think of it, the first couple shots are always low which based on your description, makes perfect sense. Great stuff - thanks, I really appreciate that intel and video  .
