Flat band deterioration

Today I noticed that my consistency suffered a lot. I persevered, but in the end I just changed the bands. At once I managed to hit as normal, and with more power, eventhough I took out single 25/20mm tbg and put on 20/20mm singles.
That shouldnt be possible normally. So, is it possible that the previous set developed some defect? It was the one that came with my scorpion btw, and till yesterday it was fine.
I really dont get it. Was I simply frustrated and just relaxed when I gave myself time to change the bands?
In a few words, what the heck is going on?

Another thing I forgot to add. First of all, 25-20, at 500% elongation feels ok to me, not hard, not easy, just normal. But when I put the 20-20 on....it felt harder.... Both tbg, but from a different batch. Tomorrow I will put the old bands on again and test them out, just to rule out the, very high indeed, possibility, that I was simply having a bad session.

Skropi it absolutely makes sense that the older rubber would be worn out and thus less potent than the thinner and straight cut rubber.

Every time you stretch rubber some of the molecular bonds are going to break. Eventually when enough of these break so much of the rubber will have lost it's elastic qualities that the whole piece will feel "dead."

A smaller but newer piece of rubber can literally have more active mass than a larger piece of rubber that has had many of it's bonds broken.
