So after wandering for ages in this urban **** ( hey, this forum censors- lemme try **** **** **** he double hockeysticks) and looking in Central Park for ages, I haven't found a suitable natural fork. However, i stumbled upon onw in my own backyard today. I'm not much of a tree expert, and it's not a tree branch- i think it's from one of those mutant spliced bush-trees. Now, here's the problem. The plant's dead. Is it likely that a fork will snap on me? Is there any way to test?

If the wood feels solid, go for it. What do you think dried wood is? It's a dead tree or bush. Just make sure there's no rotting.

I usually just squeeze the tips toward each other pretty hard to test its strength. -- Tex
