No, not by people but by Ravens !!

They keep buzzing me, flying at me, and I'm no where near their nest. They are getting more and more brazen and I don't want to be scratched or pecked by one for sure.

Remember these are protected, you can't shoot them or harass them, so what do you do ? And no I'm not changing my habits.

Raven and crow are very smart and can recognize people, and even hold grudges against them. So try wearing a hat and sunglasses/or a mask :imslow: If you kill a crow and leave it for them to see, it might alert them that there is a predictor or something poisonous near by. I can give you the number of a good friend of mine his name is Alfred Hitchcock, He has some experience with these amazing creatures. :naughty: Good luck.

Only you can decide when it's appropriate to defend yourself. Ravens are no more protected than you- by law. No reasonable person would expect you to lose an eye to an aggressive bird, regardless of species. If there are children present it's a no-brainer, IMHO. Again, your call...

Carry one of these around. Twist the nozzle for squirt not spray/mist.

Shoot the buggers out of the sky when they buzz past you. They won't be harmed but they will get the message. Specially if your bottle has some lemon juice added to it. Or does that work just with cats....?

You might also use a slingshot with the kind of pouch the big dude is using:

Just replace the ball ammo with something like salt or flour. And let them have it.

Or fry an egg and leave it out for them every other day. Crows love fried eggs. They'll be your buddies.

a water blaster may be the ticket though when they get real, real close ?
Use the kind I linked to. And yes, they are very smart. I sometimes give them an egg or something... they don't bother me ever.

And seriously how much damage can a critter with hollow bones do even?

I don't have ravens in my area... these are the guys I have living in my trees:

Bird Beak Feather Twig Tree

Smaller but very loud and aggressive and smart.

Oh and you can fire chips out of your slingshot to lure them away.

If there is anything they love more than fried eggs, it's chips (french fries for Americans). Specially if there is sauce all over them (probably makes it easier to spot from the air?)... but that'll make things too messy.. forget the sauce. And the cole slaw (that works too btw).

As a few good shotgun shells or a scoped air rifle appear to be "verboten" in your area to solve the problem, I would try using firecrackers sporadically to scare the &%*ç& out of them, and possibly shining a strong LED flashlight on their nest once it gets dark i.e. make it uncomfortable for them with non-lethal methods.

As Griffo has suggested, hanging a realistic look plastic decoy feet upside down on a tree branch somewhere near the nest will make your unwanted guests think twice about their location.

Least but not last, a few pot shots with an airsoft gun might work?

If it gets as bad as this scene
, you'll need something a bit more potent, I guess. :hmm:

Yep. That's the one. Bird Einstein. Also known locally as "Flying Bastard".

If one of these (or a parrot) poops on you, it brings you luck, they say.

I was going to court over a civil matter and there are huge trees around the city courts and I got pooped on. And everything went in my favor. So yeah.

Also, according to legend (or an old wives' tale) when Cain murderized his brother, he didn't know what to do with the body until he saw a crow bury another crow (or food), which is where burial came from.

less so some parts of Africa
"Self introduced" to Africa.

It went from here to there, on it's own, uninvited.

There's a colony of Ring-necked Parakeets living near me. They're an invasive species not native to this country.

Myth has it Jimi Hendrix released a pair of these birds when he was living in London in the sixties and this is where they came from. Cool story, but myth. Most likely a breeding pair escaped from captivity at some time.

They look completely out of place in our environment and climate, bright lime green and parrot-like squawky!

Yeah.. they're native to here (green bird, green Pakistan flag). Very smart birds but have awful attitude problems. They love eating big fat chillis... the hotter the better. Also very good at repeating swear words and ringtones.

Their poo is even luckier than that of a crow.

Well, if you can’t shoot them I’m not sure what to tell you. We have a big problem with them here, they upseed the gardens and will shred the grass to the point it looks like it was tilled! Here if there on your property there fair game. so what I do is shoot one with a scoped .22 them hang it in the garden on a stick. In about 10 min 50 will come swooping and screeching, then I pick off about 15 more with the 12 gauge. Do that once about every 5 years. This year I had a few causing havoc, I go them with the sling.
