Up close the 1/2 inch marble will give you more and the 5/8 about the same. As your target gets further and further away, the 3/8 inch steel holds its speed much better, because of air resistance of the glass. -- Tex

Hey Tex, would you say that the weight of the 3/8 steel helps to buck the wind which helps to maintain a speed distance advantage?

Yep, leading surface area to weight is what determines how far a shot will travel at a given speed. Lead travels the farthest. However sometimes you don’t want a shot to travel very far like in wing shooting, because you need more down range distance to be safe. -- Tex
