A little over two months ago I had the fortune of finding this and another slingshot forum, soon I had ordered my first slingshot in over thirty years a old Victor 20, next I made my first two naturals, then came a Dankung knock off (I know! I know!) Then another natural and a Wham O Sportsman, then another natural. Well you can see how things are going, I have a trunk full of drying forks, the materials for a wooden Gloveshot, fortunately or unfortunately depending on your point of view I am on a limited income (workers comp) or every drawer in my house would contain a slingshot. Anyway I guess this is my back handed way of saying thanks to you all for giving my OCD a new and very enjoyable focus.

I know the feeling I got the bug and started building cattys found this forum got an intro to flatbands and thanks to Wingshooter who made a new design Ive been rebuilding a few of my cattys and making some new ones just cant seem to stop.

I too have been hooked by this hobby/art/sport/social camaraderie or whatever way it fits someone to label our interest. I started buying a Marksman wrist rocket after seeing the Rufus Hussey video someone sent me in an email.

Then I had to make one for myself and another, and another experimenting with the styles of design, Purchased 3 dankungs, a Bellsofhythe, and two from Fish.

I am in the process of making some for several friends so they can have a slingshot of their own.

I to date have used board wood, 2x4 wood, trimmed and glued for the right size, carbon fiber and 13 layer 3/4 inch plywood. Mostly of late I am trying to find the design that feels best in my hand and shooting. I do believe that if one style was all I had I would by default get good with it and eventually think it is just fine for me.

Yeah, that's how it started for a lot of us. Get one,get another,always searching for the perfect slingshot. Kent Sheppard has the largest slingshot collection in the world. He loaded up 20 picnic tables with all of them a few years ago. He has well over 700 slingshots. All kinds of commercial models dating back to the early 1900's and many custom homemade ones too. Truely an impressive collection( I was drooling!). I know of other guys with over 500 a couple with around 300 and 400 and then there's a few like me with a few hundred. You can't possibly get them all unless you have very, very,deep pockets,so most of the guys I know learn to be selective. Some like Arrow shooters, some metal frames,some wooden models,some commercial,some African, Mayan, Boilies, etc. Yes it is some kind of hobby!! I love it!

We all have slingshot on the brain. I have it so bad that if it came down to saving my slingshot or saving my wife I just may have to think about it, but rest assured I would make the tight choice. Oh Yea! Slingshots forever.

Before I came on this forum i used to go out with my dogs and my slingshot was just there next to the leads, never gave it a second thought, it just went with me, now there is 6 and im looking to see which one i,m taking, i have the them all away twice, but just keep making more, ha ha, all your fault, jeff
