Hello to all at slingshotforum,

I just wanted to put it out there.

The specifications of MAD2 GZK pouch die.

This pouch material was not very good before lamination but it seems to be holding up now. The strength of contact adhesive is impressive.

Kindest regards to all at slingshotforum, Thank you for all the information.

Careful, the die is sharp and will cut you.

Tks, wonder if these pouch dies are able to be sharpened when they get dull, and if so, how ?

I looked over the GZK dies and the MAD2 is the one I would chose as well. My ammo is usually 7mm or 8mm. I have some precut blue pouches from GZK that look like MAD2 and they are my favorites. Small, strong, and long lasting.

Did you just use regular contact cement for laminating?

SLING-N-SHOT,

Iam not sure about that. It is single bevel so a dremel's stone I guess. Looks like it would do a fair bit. I have punched about half a dozen and it's still razor sharp.

Northerner,

Sika 500ml Contact-4600 AU Adhesive. I guess it's the aussie equivelant of Barge. US leather workers say Barge is the best.

I put a nice thin layer leaving no dry patches on the pouch material (so you get no air pockets but also no excess drips), a piece of some old work overalls as the other layer. I placed it between two pieces of MDF wood and two G-clamps. Then tightend it up real tight and left it for 24 hours. It appears to be good. A little fraying of the cotton dealt with with a sharp pair of scissors.

I was watching a slingshot round table discussion and Flatband and Nathan Masters (Simpleshot) said it was the way to go.

Would'nt go near these knife rule edges with a dremel as you would end up with a variable height (wavy) cutting edge, better to use a small hone, which could offer better control here. Better still would be a small jig to hold the stone at the preferred angle.

In the corrugated industry they just replace damaged/blunt rule

Thankyou Trap1, I appreciate that info. They are razor sharp. I think I will get many uses before they go blunt.

I made another sheet of GZK pouch material with both sides laminated this time. Contact adhesive definitely adds alot of strength.

You're welcome P. I worked in the corrugated industry (in design) & have a lot of experience in these die cutting rules. The secret in keeping them sharp is just 'kissing' the softer platen when punching through. I dont know what is supplied with these or the methods being used to punch them... fly press & flat nylon plate? (hdpe) What method are you using?

I'm getting one made just now (see att'd pdf) & I'm thinking initially on using a small soft faced mallet & plate, that may change though as m/c's or jigs could be set more precisely.

Trap1,

There is a type of plastic, a lot like a thick cutting board used in the kitchen. The plastic gets hit with a claw hammer at the moment as I don't want to buy a Arbor Press.

That is what I have found, but I ordered from GZK because he has a good reputation and I needed a band tying jig.

Cheers PK.

If you keep an eye out at Harbor Freight you can sometimes find a half ton table top Arbor Press for a very reasonable price.

I had one that I never used...Instill might...if I find it I will be tempted to get a similar set up for pouch makery

Thank's MakoPat,

For the amount of pouches I need maybe a dozen maybe 24, I just got sick of handing out money at the moment. Yeh they are $100 buck here but other bills are calling at the moment.

I have put in a few thousand nails while plastering so I have no problem with the hammer.

Cheers Paul.

Good selection of styles there & agree GZK have good stuff.. I'm going to check out his tips.

That roo leather's to expensive for me (with shipping.) I got some leather samples, to check strength for pouches, from a company I've bought hides from b4. I've got 2 chrome tanned cow suede pieces that passed my test (I test using 2 pairs of pliers & grip 12mm apart on an edge & pull like popeye's just had a can o spinach,if it tears I reject it...) I'm still trying to justify buying an 18sq ft. side.

Awe the best PK.. go easy on the hammer :)
