Hand slap...

I have read on here that hand slap generally occurs if you are shooting ammo that is too light for the bands that are attached to the slingshot. Well Ive been playing around and I've got a pair of single theraband gold bands. I have attached them to 2 differently designed boardcut slingshots. I shot 12mm lead balls and I repeatedly get hand slapped by one slingshot.

I have quickly mocked up a protector to wear on my middle finger where I get hit and will post pics of it when I have refined it a little more. I have tried gloves but they dont offer any middle finger protection!

Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

Flip style is what I use and never get hand slaps or fork hits.
I try to flip but I still get the hits...

No need to flip just angle shooter forward like your pointing with it.

It's all in the timing I understand, try flipping with no ammo in, that's how I first learnt; it's major over-compensation to get it right, but you learn the timing of the elastic.

Shoot through the fork instead of over the top....old school still works

How would you attach a flatband in this way? Is it possible with a normal boardcut slingshot?
I have less hand slap since i do butterfly style, thanks to lighter bands i think
You would have to buy or make a slingshot that has the forks slotted to accomodate the bands, both Flatband and Bunnybuster make through the fork shooters, as far as I know they are the only ones who still do.
Ah....thanks for clearing that up!
Guys I have found the theory of light ammo is not necessarily true.

I have the same bands on two slighshots of different designs and I get slaps on one exclusively.
