I've been researching slingshots for the past few days and im suprised how much I was able to learn in so little time. I put together a cart on simpleshot, just waiting for accountant (wife) approval. Not quite sure on what ammo/band combination yet. Still working out where to shoot, so biodegradable ammo will be a concern.

Im going to try my best to use the search function to try to find the info I need. Im sure I will. Im mostly sure of what I need, just have to understand the band size in relationship to ammo a bit more

When you buy bands sets on the Simple Shot site it provides recommended ammo sizes. I learned from trial, error and the forum.

If you do go the biodegradable route (clay) remember its a lot lighter than its steel or lead counter part. I use 1/2 inch straight cut .5 for clay.

Right. So the best example my current limited knowledge i can give is - theres a training band set they sell thats .5mm thickness and .5" width. They say that's used for .25" ammo, but can also be used for clay since its lighter weight ammo. I found on Amazon. 25" steel ammo and clay im wanting to order to get me started. From there, with the help of the forum and other resources I should use trial and error to see what I need next. Im buying DIY supplies so that I dont order a mismatched band set and have to wait a week before I can shoot anything at all

Sounds like a good plan. Also it depends what you intend to do with your sling. If you only target shoot like me you do not need the heavy bands I'm pretty exclusive .5 and .6 with 3/8 steel. Then you get in to different tapers, lengths, etc.. I like simple so straight cuts no tapers for me. If you plan to hunt there are better qualified members to help. And there are no shortage of post covering bands and ammo.

Yup, target shooting and plinking. Also maybe self defense depending on how 2021 goes /s

Right now I want to focus on getting out and shooting with a reliable setup.
