Home, Home on the Range....

When I moved out of the desert into the forest last November I recall telling y'all that I was gonna make my Hickock45 Range in the backyard. I work slow but thanks to some added Social Distancing I am closer than close!

Here is the Center of the Range. I've got an elevated deck that I can ping items off of the top if I choose. My catchbox will sit on top and will be removable for upgrades or repairs.
I've got 10m, 20m, and 25m to work with. A couple of .22 caliber metal targets are going to be planted in the area for those 'random' shots while taking the garbage out or scaring the crap out of the neighbors wife in between her Vodka Tonics. I have some of those training golfballs that I will camo-paint and launch up into the canopy with some 50lb test and a sinker. I've got a couple of brass bells and some beatup spoons and endcuts from copper pipe that'll get strung as well. I may take the spoons into the forest beyond the fence line and give myself a little walkabout course away from the house.

What am I missing??

Mo45, overnout.

Man what I wouldn't do for a backyard like that!
The journey has been arduous and racked with casualties. In the long run if you just let things happen and avoid the struggle, then you too can own a backyard like this. Just don't forget about the Bajillion miles of National Forests that you can hang out in. Your taxes mean you own it. Just don't get caught with a slingshot, or a gun, or an open container, or a doobie, or a blowtorch, or speargun or a, or a, or a, or a......

What did you miss?!
I need a raincheck to come shoot - when it's safe!
You bring the Toilet Paper and you've got a date!

Man ,, I've been wondering about that. I know I promised you some targets. So maybe I'll beg off the ssotm project and get started on your targets.
Oh you better not avoid that SSOTM challenge! I need SOMEBODY to give me a contest!? I've got a few more years before I'm 60 so you've got plenty of time for targets!

Looks like a great place!
Thanks Jax and Welcome to the Forum. Know that I take everything for granted because there is never a guaranty that you will get to keep all of the cool stuff you have!

Wow that's an awesome backyard and range! When are you hosting the next event at your house!?
Good call! And you can take a whizz over the fence line if the little Woman doesn't catch you. I also been known to spit out there without any hassles!

You are lucky Mo. Been wanting to set some sort of 'course' up indoors - but not got round to it yet. And the kids keep stealing my boxes to use to make craft...
The only indoor shooting I've done is in the garage from about 15ft away at a moving blanket with a paper circle in the middle. With the PFS I was trying the 'Jelly Drop' and using it to figure out to Target with frames that I was clueless about. I believe I picked up that formula from Gamekeeper Catapults.

That's gonna be a great setup. Leave a couple of boxes mobile.
I am with you Ibojoe. However that is what nearly got me arrested on National Park land in the Mojave when I couldn't explain to The Ranger why my plastic bin was so noisy!
