Ah well...

Not a bad deal under a fiver. LOL

You should put in a bid at that price. If it's missed by other bidders, it'd be cheaper than making it yourself.

Nope. if I ever decide I want a Hunter I'll go with the real deal.

No offence to Fish but his Hunter design is simple enough in general appearence that someone could come up with a simular design pretty easily, but what would tick me off is the fact that by calling it a "Hunter Style" he is clearly playing on Fish's popularity, and even more so that that would be the fact he also cloned the Tournament Pro a realitivly new and different design.

The Tournament Pro looks very similar to the Dankung Owl to me (except made of wood instead of metal).

There are only so many ways you can make a slingshot look different than all the rest. But I think stealing the name ("Hunter-style") is terrible. The eBay seller is a real leech. But the fortunate part is I highly doubt anyone looking for a Hunter Catapult is going to believe this $4.99 wonder on eBay is the real deal.

I don't think he is ripping anyone off with the designs, both these have been around for years.

I first used the Tournament Pro shape in 1978- 1979, I made up one in ply wood at school and my dad copied it in aluminium for me. But do think he is out of order calling them Hunter style slingshots.

Sorry, I thought it was one of your designs, not one of our Site Vendor's. TBH, it's pretty common and probably wasn't imitation. Unless of course, the seller's a certain notorious eBay seller that routinely rips off knife designs from certain forums that our friend fish is on a lot.

I first made the first one of my basic classic wood pattern and also the Shooting Stars in 2002. I have tweaked my classic several times, but it is still basically the same. Most patterns have been around for many years. It is hard to get a binding patent on a frame design anymore. Even after you have it is not worth much. I encourage people to copy my designs. It may not be illegal, but it is not very nice to use someone else's name though. -- Tex

I see it could be a problem with calling it Hunter as well. That is where it ends. Not the shape. This shape is so basic in all cut outs. How many ways can you cut a "U" ? Fish no offense brother but there is nothing to get all riled up about. There may be some legal recourse in the name "Hunter" being used as a company name. It is a registered company hopefully in UK. I would inquire but legal proceedings of this nature may be expensive. Perhaps you may want to try a "cease and desistt" order for the usage of the name.

a closer comparison between pictures shows that, the ebay seller is copying some of Fish's designs... however he's not doing a particularly good job of it. in one design, the fork isn't nearly as wide or deep, which probably shoots differently as well.
