I’ve recently bought a slingshot from eBay and the bands attach by clamping them in using a screw. I was wondering if this would be detrimental to the band’s lifespan.
Without a photo, it's hard to answer definitively.
But, generally speaking clamps do not hurt band life unless they have burrs or other irregularities in contact with the latex.
That is a well proven method of band attachment. Both fast and secure. The material appears to be steel, and that is also good. If there are any irregularities affecting the band life, a little sanding should fix it.
