Thanks Shane for the update. Good to know you made good use of hurricane wood! Looks great and anxious to shoot it along with the others.Glad they arrived! And relieved that your happy with them! As for the sliced natural...that's from a maple (box elder) (Manitoba maple) that fell on my property during hurricane Dorian, and the little nibbler you might have made lol. I did not make than one, that one I got as an extra in my very first trade with Steve (stringslap) I shot it a lot, but I don't shoot pfs much so I figured you would put it to better use![]()
BeautifulWith great anticipation I have been checking the mail box daily on the delivery of my package from Shane of Island Made Catapults. Today was the day my confidence in the postal system returned and the mailman brought me a package with this lovely brass PFS design by Shane. Wrapped safely in its own heavy duty cloth bag, the finish on this polished brass is simply amazing. What a beauty this is,
but wait.... There were two additional natural forks included! Along with the brass PFS frame are two gorgeous examples of woodworking craftsmanship. One in PFS size very similar to a Nibbler. The other is a natural fork slice that could be shot as a gapper with a small pouch, but will probably get shot PFS just to make sure it clears the fork.
Shane, first you have outdone yourself. Way more than I expected. Can you tell us more about the wood of these two forks? The small PFS looks very much like Dogwood that I built once. No clue on the slice frame? Maple or Ash?
Everything is amazing! They will get banded and shot later today after day job work is done. Keep an eye on the Daily Sling for more pictures.
Thank you!

Thanks Darrell, I had a good teacher. One of the great things about PFS is that they all shoot very similar. At least for me they do. Just have to adjust for the fork width a little to get the elevation on target. Also, I'm only good to about 12 meters distance. Much more and the target gets really fuzzy looking with my old man vision. So I just aim at the middle of the fuzzy mark.I gotta say brother, it doesn't take you long to figure out a sling and get on target.....I need to practice more, lol.....impressive skills
