Well not all went well on this one it’s a shame had some cool grain. Treeman told me it’s called included bark . He told me it’s because bark got in between the two branches and could not bond together . I had this a couple times but first time I took pics . Something to watch out for . Good job I started two.

Maybe you can glue it back in place then cut it down the middle and make a core for it so you would still be able to use the wood.

I thought about that but that's pretty labour intensive lol . I tried matching the piece back but it's not going to fit well without messing around . I just get a different fork . Thanks man I will still save it in the scrap box who knows I could always try it sometime

I've got a couple forks like this. I took some of the bark off and banded it up for BB's, but I'm glad to know that's a weak point. I'll stay away from the heavy bands :)

Ouch! Heartbreaking to see that happen... But I guess you'll now have parts for something else... Some guys like Tony (fearnforks) seem to put some of the most gorgeous frames together using bits and bobs of cut-offs. I never believe good wood ever goes to waste... maybe they might not be what we originally intended but they still have a destiny to become something...
