All I can say is kudo's to all of you Professional Builders with hundreds of quality sling builds on their resume. Your skill, patience, and artistic ability is enviable! This.is.not.easy.....!
Using a quality core for a project like this will give you the confidence that you are working with a proven shooting foundation. The Pocket Predator Ranger was the first modern sling that I hit 3 in a row with, so it was going to be a 'custom' sling in my quiver.
What can a hobby builder really say about a Build-By-Numbers project? I saw a hundred PP Ranger photos, had some pretty good wood, (Maderno?---gotta go look), some basic tools and a virgin drill press......what could go wrong??!
My hands ache, and my right hip as well from sitting and sanding. I added the snar-wrap tye holes because I will shoot light tubes as well as OTT snappy flats. Old Miser showed me that tye method and my fingers are happier for it.
Sanded to 1500. Two doses of Tung Oil and one rub with paste wax. I like running my lanyard holes horizontal so that the cord meets my wrist in a more natural direction.
I hope you enjoy and look to try and make your own! Peace, Moses
