Here awhile back, I started to make a release out of a broken Texas Nut Cracker, but never finished it. Well today was the day that I finished it. You will notice that I did not spend very much time on making it look nice as I don’t care for releases anyway. It is shown with a new Texas Nut cracker, so you can see its roots. The new one however will not make one as the front end is too narrow to form a grip depression into. I shoot it several times today and I did learn a couple of things about what is going on during a release. It works OK, although it is a little clumsy to load. -- Tex

So I'm guessing that a spring holds it open, you squeeze it onto the ammo in the pouch, and when you release the ball flies. The little loop of leather goes around a finger so you don't drop it.
But what's a Texas nutcracker? And why is the other one so big???

It is just like a pair of pliers with blades on them. You can cut the shells off of paper shell pecans and get the nut out with out damage. I had cut a broken one down to make the release. -- Tex
