It's a funny thread title, but really now, one of the warrior roo pouches I have, just......stopped shooting straight. Well, ok, it shoots straight, but it shoots consistently low.
Here's what happened. I washed the pouch with a mild dishwater solution, dried it with a paper towel, rubbed some olive oil on it, and let for a day. Next day, that would be today, I am banding it up, and it just shoots very low. I thought my technique was off, but nope, it just shot low. I changed the pouch for a microfiber one, and all went well. Now, I thought that I probably made a mistake, so I once against replaced the pouch and put on the roo one .....shots very low once again. Replaces it for a new warrior roo pouche, and sure enough, I was hitting my spinners normally again.
It really makes no sense guys, so, is there an explanation for that? Has it happened to anyone else?

I've never heard anyone wash their pouches before. Normally just change to a new one.?

It became a bit sticky, not smooth like new, and it affected mu release. Before trying mink oil and beeswax, I tried this method to make it smooth.

Maybe when you rubbed the pouch with olive oil you added enough weight to make it shoot low. When you switch to the lighter micro fiber pouch the the shot rises back to normal. Any extra weight at the pouch end affects the speed of the shot. Just my opinion.

I put a tiny bit of oil, the weight increase is not the culprit, as I drew even further back and still got low shots.

I know olive oil seems good on everything but it does go rancid... though I doubt you would get much oil on a pouch for that to be a factor?

I probably would have reaced for a regular automotive or home furniture leather conditioner or cleaner?

Leather may get sticky due to build-up of gunk and sweat on its surface coupled with some wearing through. So what it might need is a good clean and conditioning nourishment - but with the right products...

Pouches are meant to be consumable items but warrior pouches last so long I can understand getting attached to one. But when it is time to say goodbye to one, it's time....

I have another pouch I gave the same treatment, I will check if it behaves the same. Yeah, I love the luxurious feel of leather, and they last almost indefinitely, if it wasnt for the low shots.

Erm... Yeah - I wouldn't wash leather that way - you need a specialist soap (something like saddle soap) - or possibly try some surgical spirits etc. though that could dry leather out and start cracking...

Think once a pouch gets to that sticky phase - its time to simply get another. You have the same issue with microfibre?

With microfiber I dont have that issue, no. Thats a reason I consider getting some warrior navy seals to try.

Skropi...Don't know slingshots, but I'm pretty good with leather. Don't know how your pouch was tanned, there is bark, chrome, vegetable, oil, etc . Don't think that you hurt it by washing as long as you use a natural soap. I'd go with Ivory which has no salts in it. Let it dry out of the sun and heat. You will note then that it is a little "grabbie", all clean leather is. Ever wash your hair then pulled through your fingers and hear it squeak? Squeaky clean. Take your now clean pouch and lay it on something hard and flat. (formica counter??) Rub a cheap candle over the knap side. rub that in (one way is best) with something like the back of a soup spoon. Rub hard, you are not going to hurt it.
Try that, and if it don't fix it, your pouch has just gotten to "glovey" to work for you, which I doubt.

Lol, why regret posting? Thanks for the advice. It will be put to good use with the second pouch, if it exhibits the same issues, because the first one got repurposed to a......1.5cm spinner ????
