I still dont know where it ends though!
Took the natties out of commission in order to get them to 2k grit. Now I wait for a light coat of Danish oil to dry, and sand them down again.
The shine they got when I reached 2k grit was very nice, they approach mirror territory and its like they dont need any other finishing, but I cant help but wonder how they would look like at 5k grit now ????

Hahaha, they look great! Stop it!
I am not going to go higher in grit, 2k really is good enough for my first natties! Tomorrow, the last coat of Danish oil will be dry, they'll get their final light sanding+buffing, and they'll go to work!

Astonishing grain ther. I like the small one. Wabi-Sabi beauty. Don't make it slippery.
Just googled wabi sabi, and yes, that is the way I look on to natties, and the reason I came to love them! Thanks for bringing it up!
They are not very slippery yet, I would need to get to higher grits for that, and I am not going to, at least not for these ☺

That really is beautiful craftsmanship, two little stunners there
Cheers mate! However, to be perfectly honest, I just go with the flow, with what mother nature already made, and I just contribute a little bit. It is not called good craftsmanship, it is called "lots of patience"!
I am really veering towards handmade only frames lately.
